# Value Engine 3.0

The deterministic engine becomes the live rule after its shadow run.

Since October 18, 2026, Upvera Value comes from Value Engine 3.0: the same events and the same rule give the same number, on every machine that runs it. Upvera Value is computed by Upvera and unitless; it is not a price and not what a company is worth.

Before it went live, the engine ran in shadow beside the rule it replaced, on the same events. Its results were compared and used for nothing. It became the live rule as value@1 in the public rule registry, with a fingerprint of the rule and a fingerprint of the compiled engine.

## What changes for people

- Every change in a startup's value comes with a receipt: its reasons, line by line, adding up to the change.
- Every number names the rule and the build that produced it.
- Upvera's servers run the WebAssembly build of the engine, the build whose fingerprint is in the registry.

What anyone can check: that receipts add up, that each number names its rule, and that the rule is in the registry. The engine's source is private. More in the [Value Engine report](/value/) and in [How Upvera Value works](https://app.upvera.co/value/guide).
